So, my brother and sister-in-law - Eric and Suzanne - came to visit me for two weeks. It was such an amazing vacation for all of us. It's safe to say we were all completely warn out by the end, but I especially enjoyed having them see where I'm living and getting a taste of this experience. So, here are the highlights of out trip ...
We started out going to Cape Coast where we toured Elmina (Slave) Castle and walked the canopy at Kakum National Rainforest.
After Cape Coast, we drove to Techiman for one night where we ate dinner at my host family's house. After Techiman, we went to Mole National Park. On the way, we stopped at Larabanga Mosque (pics 1-3). It's is supposedly the oldest mosque in Ghana. Whether that is true or not is debatable, but it's very neat nevertheless. We stayed in Mole for two days and as you can see, we got quite a show from the elephants, baboons, and gang.
After Mole, we went to Binaba for three days. Eric and Suzanne met all of my friends, greeted the chief (pic 1), met my students at the SS (pics 5-6), and walked through the market. The BWFA women also threw a big party with dancing, pito, and live local music on the 4th of July.
After Binaba, we went to Paga, where we saw and touched crocodiles. Then we went to Tongo Hills, where we met one of my PCV friends (last pic) and hiked the rocks.
After Paga and Tongo, we headed back down to Techiman. My host brother, Carlos, took us to the Boabeng Fiema Monkey Sanctuary. The monkey in pic #2 is eating a banana out of my hand.
After Techiman, we came back down to Accra for a couple days before they few out. It's been an amazing two weeks. Now it's back to reality I suppose ...
